The VALLEY center pivot system

Purpose

The VALLEY center pivot machines manufactured by the american company VALMONT. They are designed for economical irrigation of fields: agricultural and vegetable crops, cultivation, pastures, etc. The entire pivot is supplied with water, which flows through the pivot pipes into the spans of the irrigation system. The largest center pivots are reaching 850 m in radius which can irrigate fields of up to 250 ha.

Construction and principle of operation

The VALLEY center pivot irrigation machine made of galvanized steel structure connected by spans. Used on different sizes and shapes of fields. Pivot usually consists of: a pivot point, spans with a pipeline, a drive tower, a control system, a set of sprinklers. The pipeline in spans can be made with a diameter of 5" to 10". For more effective working radius, the manufacturer has spans and trusses of various lengths. In addition, at the ends of the pivot you can use gun sprinkler, which will increase the irrigated radius. It is possible to manufacture a pipeline with a plastic insert with increased corrosion resistance. To drive a pivot needs a power source of several kilowatts. If it is not possible to transport the source to the field the equipment set may include a correctly selected energy generator.

It is possible to build a pivot machine with a moving center. Using swivel wheels, the entire center irrigation system can be towed by truck to move it to the next field.
