Your first step in irrigation
If you have full all knowledge and experience in irrigation and you do not need any consultations, then just please order equipment without wasting your time for the following questions. If you expect LUKOMET to make a conception of irrigating your fields or you just want to speak to the point, then please give your opinion to the subjects mentioned below. Answers should be very short but precise, for each expression between commas, for each following points. If you do not know answers, then write your opinion or just write: I do not know,I do not understand the matter, please determine instead of me, please offer me, or something like that.
1...Full name of a company (name of the interested), full address, telephones, e-mail, web side.
2...Full name, home and cell phone number of a person for direct contact in the matter of irrigation.
3...Total farm surface, surface of all grounds that could be irrigated, surface of the grounds designed to be irrigated every year, surface of grounds to be irrigated this year.
4...Form of property of the particular grounds (freehold, leasehold with planned purchase in ......, long-term leasehold, leasehold for the growing time only, exchange grounds, others).
5... Map. The map can be made by hand on a tracing or squared paper but necessarily in scale e.g. 1 cm=250 m, 1 cm=100 m, 1 cm=50 m, 1 cm=25 m, 1 cm=20 m, 1 cm=10 m. On the map do not forget to mark: the scale, the north, place-name, fields mentioned in point 3., road, ditches, river, ponds, poles and overhead wires, underground cables and pipelines, single trees and brushwood, other obstacles on the fields or in their important nearness. Please mark the place of water consumption (the place at the river where the approach is possible, where the bank is easy, where you want to dig the pond, where is the well or the place for well etc.). Please fill in the distances (in metres) describing the dimensions of the fields, the distances from the water intake, from transformer, from connecting seat, from essential obstacles or objects. Please mark places and fill in values of level differences between ground and water-level and mark with pointers field slopes and their values in metres for 100 m. On the fields designed to irrigate please mark directions of rows of plants (using three short parallel lines). If the directions on particular runner are different, please mark also contours of the runners.
6...Have any fields already been irrigated? If yes, which one, what areas, what equipment was used? Should the equipment be renewed, refilled, modernised, or the new subject should be treated independently of already possessed.
7...What irrigation equipment do you have to be used?
8...What will be used as a water source (river, drainage ditch, lake, pond, well, storage reservoir, water supply, other)?. . What are the real possibilities of water consumption during the time of drought disaster? What is the amount of contaminants in the water: mechanical (slime, sand, duckweed, seaweed, fishes, tadpoles, other animalcules), biological (municipal wastes, manure), chemical (iron, calcium, chemical made by people)?. What type of water intake do you prefer (temporary, solid with bank preparing, with building)?. Is that required a building like a well, a dam, storage reservoir, water treatment station?
9...What type of pump stations do you prefer? Available pump drive: diesel, tractor's PTO, electric. Your pump station should be stationary, removed after season, portable, movable on wheels, manhandle. Are you afraid of theft? What is your power allowance? What amount of power could be arranged for pump feeding during irrigation season? Do you have tractors, what type? Which of them could be used for driving tractor pump?
10...What type of delivery line do you prefer: stationary underground, temporary, solid set laid for all irrigation season, laid and removed after each irrigation cycle, removed after irrigating each plot, other?. Do you prefer pipes of plastic or classical irrigation pipes?. Are you afraid of theft?
11...Preferred irrigation system: drip, microsprinklers, stationary sprinklers, sprinkler on movable pipes, far-reach guns, reel machines, towed machines, lateral move, center pivot?
12...What plant will be grown?. Please draw a cross-section (in scale) through the fields, furrows, within drawing in scale an underground and above-ground part of a plant during vegetation season when irrigating is applied.
13...What are average and extreme climatic conditions for fields designed to be irrigated (precipitation, temperatures, humidity, winds)?. Could you determine an average and maximal value of evapotranspiration in following decades we are interested in ?. Could you run the risk of statements: here the rain never comes down, here precipitation is excessive, here the wind is always blowing, here the air is close?. Have you got any similar expressions for your local climatic conditions?
14...Do you provide any (other than irrigating) functions of the system e.g. ground frost protection, allowing of using combine harvester, fertilising, manure or wastes spreading?.
15...Please describe the soil, its class, water capacity, is it permeable, heavy. Relying on your own observations please determine areas as dry with necessity of irrigating, normal, wet where irrigating may be applied in tragic drought years only. What are your own expressions concerning the soil and water conditions?
16...What is the level of subsoil water, what are its variations? Does water stagnate periodically on the field (in the spring, after storm or big rain), how long? What is a rate of loosing water by soil? Do the fields have a drainage or a possibility of irrigation by infiltration?
17...In a year of drought disaster: how long can you irrigate daily, how many days weekly? Could you ensure "non-stop" work (24 hours per a day, 7 days per a week) of the irrigation system?
18...What sum are you going to invest in irrigation this year, in the following years? Will you solicit a credit or has it just given to you? Will you cover the costs of the investments in your own means? What sum could you pay on account? Will you need to arrange instalments for a payment – what sums in what terms? What assurance do you propose for an unpaid dues? What rate of interest could you offer for a credit given to you (LUKOMET would have to raise a commercial credit to your needs)? LUKOMET is not a benevolent institution, we do not practice a distribution, we operate according to the market rules to aim a reasonable profit ensuring development for our firm.
19...What are you going to purchase at LUKOMET?
